Intro to Coding and STEM Kits

Target Audience: K-8th Grade Teachers

Don’t be intimidated…no prior experience needed! What is artificial Intelligence? Get your feet wet- with Code.org. Learn what resources are available to educators from Civil Air Patrol. Aerospace Education members of Civil Air Patrol are eligible to receive STEM kits and online curriculum resources at no cost. End the day with hands on activities with Bee Bots and Probots.

Participants should bring a personal laptop.

Door prize will be awarded!

Sherilyn Dawson
M.S. Curriculum and Instruction Civil Air Patrol

Sherilyn Dawson has been teaching for 18 years. She is the 2018 Air Force Association National third place Teacher of the Year, Tennessee State Teacher of the Year, General Bruce K. Holloway Chapter Teacher of the Year, 2017 Tennessee Wing Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Teacher of the Year. She incorporates math and science in her project based lessons. She says it's easy to introduce higher level concepts in elementary and get the students to own being a problem solver who can figure it out!
