Science Education at the Maryland Office of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE)

Science Education

In strengthening the nation's scientific and technical workforce, the ORAU Maryland Office administers science education programs designed to provide opportunities for students, postgraduates and faculty to participate in applied research related to their academic disciplines at federally funded host facilities. Research participants benefit from these programs by enhancing their professional development in science, mathematics, engineering and public health disciplines and by becoming more familiar with the research being performed at federal facilities. These research programs offers invaluable opportunities for participants to gain experience for future employment in fields related to the sponsor's mission.
