Partnerships for Innovation

Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) and its partners, MJW Corporation Inc. (MJW) and Dade Moeller & Associates (DMA), were awarded a contract to assist the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in fulfilling its responsibilities under the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act (EEOICPA).
NIOSH is responsible for reconstructing the amount of radiation exposure received by more than 18,000 former energy employees at various U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and DOE contractor facilities per the Energy EEOICPA.
The Act provides monetary reimbursement to employees’ families who have become ill or have died as a result of working in a nuclear energy facility.
In addition to the NIOSH dose reconstruction project, ORAU is also responsible for the evaluation of Special Exposure Cohort petitions received by the Institute.
