IM-135B/PD Pocket Dosimeter (ca. 1970s, 1980s)
The IM-135B/PD is a military direct reading pocket dosimeter that measures gamma ray and x-ray exposures in the 0-5 roentgen range. The first reference I have for the IM-135/PD is the Directory of Radiac Equipment (page date 1959). The 1966 version of the List of Military and Civil Defense Radiac Devices and the 1975 List of Radiacs in the Navy Program mention both the IM-135 and the IM-135A. The 1987 version of the list states that the IM-135 was obsolescent and that the models IM-135A and B were the standard models.
The example in the photograph carries no information about the manufacturer.
Size: 0.5” diameter and 4” long
Weight: ca. 1 oz.
Manufacturers: Models IM-135 and 135A: Bendix (Model IM-135/PD contract date:1957) and Landsverk. Dosimeter Corp manufactured the model IM-135A and/or IM-135B.
