Dental X-Ray Film Projector (ca. 1940)

Dental X-Ray Film Projector (ca. 1940)

This is a dental X-ray projector manufactured by the Spencer Lens Company (better known for manufacturing microscopy equipment). The estimated date of 1940 is based on the 1934 Patent date indicated on the label (see below) and the fact that the company name was changed in 1945. Since the things of interest in dental X-rays are often very tiny and hard to see, X-ray film is sometimes more easily assessed under magnification. This can be accomplished by use of a magnifying lens, or as in this case, by projection.
