Potatoes


There was no caption in the album for the above photo. The card on the left side of the photo reads: "Without Radium 26 Potatoes - Weight 10 lbs." The card in the middle reads" Radium Grown 26 Potatoes 17 1/2 lbs." The card on the right is too out of focus to read.
Notice the photograph on the bottom of the advertisement to the right. Undoubtedly the Radium Fertilizer Company was a subsidiary of Standard Chemical. I have it on good authority (Joel Lubenau) that a free 25 lb. can of radium fertilizer was given to any Pittsburgh Pirate batter hitting a homer in Forbes Field.
