Fallout on Sticky Film (ca. 1952)

One day after a 1952 nuclear weapons test in Nevada, the Atomic Energy Commission’s Health and Safety Laboratory set out “sticky film” to monitor fallout in Salt Lake City, Utah, which was hundreds of miles away from the Nevada Test Site. The radioactive fallout particles that settled on the film produced the dark spots that you see.
