Chalk River 2 Pi Proportional Counter (ca. 1950s)
This is a simple aluminum gas flow proportional counter built at Chalk River Laboratories in Canada, probably in the 1950s. The gas inlet and outlet can be seen pointing towards the lower left and the electrical connection to the anode can be seen pointing toward the upper right.
The body of the detector is 2 1/4" x 2 1/2" x 1 1/4." The sample drawer accepts samples up to 1 1/4" in diameter.
Unfortunately, I have no other information about this detector. All in all, it is not very exciting.
Donated by Chalk River Laboratories.
