Background:
Harold Conner is a principal engineering specialist at Strata G. He has over five decades of experience working with the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration. In this role, he worked with the University of Tennessee to implement the nation’s first nuclear decommissioning and environmental management minor offered by a major educational institution.
Prior to his current position at Strata G, Dr. Conner served as the senior advisor to the Office of the President at UCOR, a position he held for one year. He is also the previous nuclear services and engineering manager at UCOR. For eight years, he acted as the associate director of facilities and infrastructure at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California. In addition to these roles, he has also worked as senior vice president and COO at the Washington Savannah River Company, Inc., a site of the Department of Energy; as director of enriched uranium operations and restart with Lockheed Martin Energy Systems at the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge; executive vice president and COO at the DOE’s Idaho National Environmental and Engineering Laboratory site for Lockheed Martin; and other executive roles.
Dr. Conner’s background has made him an expert in DOE construction management regulations, site planning, environmental remediation, emergency management, nuclear services, nuclear operations, facility management and FIRP prioritization methodologies. In 2024, he served as the chair of the AIChE Management Division, as well as serving on the University of Tennessee’s Alumni Board of Directors in 2020. He also received Oak Ridge’s Muddy Boot Award in 2019, among many other distinguished titles.
