Background:
Julie Jordan, Ph.D., currently serves as the vice president for research and economic development at Mississippi State University. In this role, Jordan develops and manages the policies and programs for research and economic development at MSU and collaborates with faculty and university administrators to advance the overall vision and mission of the university. In addition, she oversees the research enterprise development and administration for the university including technology transfer and economic development
Prior to this role, Jordan was associate vice president for international programs and executive director of Mississippi State’s International Institute where she designed and developed international academic, research, and development activities in support of MSU’s vision for global involvement. Projects funded include the USAID Feed the Future Innovation Lab for Fish ($15M), the USAID Uzbekistan Education Reform Project ($1.4M), five Cochran Fellowships, two study abroad development grants, one university partnership grant with Uzbekistan, two USDA FAS, and two FAO projects. As executive director, Jordan managed all International Institute operations that include international student services, study abroad, student exchange, English language programs, international agreements, and research development.
Over her 13-year career with MSU, she has also served as director of MSU’s Research and Curriculum Unit and project manager for MSU’s Community Action Team, which managed a variety of community outreach projects MSU aimed at enhancing university community relationships and supporting economic development.
