Unlocking STEM Potential: Learning Blade's Ready-to-Use Lessons for Grades 5-9 (In-person Session)

Target Audience: 5th-9th Grade Teachers

The TN DOE and NREA provide FREE access to Learning Blade and Career Blade, two programs that highlight how STEM principles are used to solve real-world problems. This workshop will acclimate you with the Learning Blade and Career Blade resources that have proven to increase student interest in high-demand careers while reinforcing science and math standards for students in grades 5-9. Students can use over 400 online lessons in human-centered "Missions" or stories to explore exciting careers while practicing problems aligned to state science and other academic standards. Learn how to utilize this resource with your students on and offline and take part in demo lessons. In this session you will learn how to navigate the online lessons and offline resources, get classes set up, and make a unique plan for implementation in your classroom. Participants should bring a laptop and sign up for a free Learning Blade account in advance.

Meet your instructor

Jennifer Gregory
Tenneseee state manager, Learning Blade 

Jennifer Gregory is the Tennessee state manager for Learning Blade focusing on district and school-wide implementation strategies. She attended Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL, earning dual bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Mathematics Education. She is a former AP Computer Science Teacher and a four-year secondary math and computer science educator with experience teaching in Tennessee and Colorado. She values that her work supports educators in helping students see how they could fit in the STEM field and helps teachers get started with Computer Science education.
